HealthStack Africa wanted to revolutionize hospital management in Nigeria by creating a 'Chat-First EMR' system that staff could use intuitively without extensive training. The challenge was significant: traditional EMR systems are notoriously complex and require substantial training; hospitals lose significant revenue through administrative leakages; paper-based systems create inefficiencies and errors; staff resistance to new technology is high; and hospital owners need real-time visibility into operations and finances. The solution needed to work seamlessly for small to medium hospitals, handle multiple departments (pharmacy, lab, radiology, finance), ensure HIPAA-like data protection, and support both web and mobile access.
Our Solution
Lumenware Studio pioneered an innovative 'Chat-First' approach to hospital management, making the system feel familiar like a messaging app while delivering full EMR functionality. We designed a conversational interface where staff actions flow like chat messages: doctors order lab tests, labs confirm receipt and update results, nurses document vitals, pharmacy dispenses medication—all in intuitive threads. The platform includes: comprehensive patient case notes with complete activity history, automated billing that ensures every service is captured, pharmacy inventory management with expiry alerts, lab and radiology workflows, a mobile app for hospital owners with real-time revenue dashboards, and patient loyalty features with SMS reminders. We implemented role-based access ensuring HIPAA-compliant data protection while maintaining the ease of a chat interface. The system automatically identifies revenue leakages and provides actionable insights.
